Project Porfolio 2

There were a lot of things I learned from working on this project.  The biggest thing I learned was that communication is incredibly important to the team's overall success.  I saw this as we worked more cohesively and efficiently when we communicated what we were working on or if we needed anything.  I also learned that it is important to know who's on your team.  There were a couple of members that didn't get along well, and it was important for me to know that and make sure they didn't work together as to avoid any drama that would slow us down overall.

I got a lot of experience working all the various consoles throughout the class and feel like my confidence grew as I practiced with each console.  Having the confidence with the various consoles helped me oversee the various aspects as everything was getting set up and as the team was recording the final presentation.

For this project, I worked in Vectorworks to create a stage plot for a venue that would be hosting a day event and a night event.  The top image is for the daytime event, and the bottom image is for the nighttime event.

For this project, I had to insert the truss, motors, lights, all the power needed for everything, and much more.  I created focus points for my lights so they could focus on various points of the stage and audience.  Lastly, I built a FOH deck with 2 lighting consoles to operate the automated and incandescent lights.

The project I worked on for Project & Portfolio 5 was building off of the project from Project & Portfolio 4. In Vectorworks, I added a PA system that included 2 arrays, 4 front fills and 8 subs. There are also 8 monitor wedges on stage for the various artists. By using Sound Vision and Project Manager, I was able to make sure the PA could cover the room and that I had enough amps for all the loud speakers.

In Project Portfolio 6, I learned a lot about different video components. For instance, I learned advanced video switcher controls and learned how to make and edit a ME. I updated my vectorworks plot to show a video suite with a media server and a LED Wall.

Project Porfolio 7

For my final Portfolio class, my class and I were tasked with putting on what is known as the Final Show. It is a test of both knowledge and skill as we simulate a full show. From checking out gear and loading the truck to production time, everything had to be done in a professional manner.

I worked as the video director, and was tasked with building a camera plot, assembing a gear request list, making sure I packed all the gear I requested, no more and no less, and making sure that everything went smooth during the setup, production, and teardown.

I learned a lot from this project as it forced me to think outside the box, become familiar with a different venue, and work with gear that I was unfamiliar with.

All in all, it was a great production and it was well worth all the time and effort.
